My name is Marc Agboka. I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada but have spent the past 10 years living in Long Island and Queens, New York. When asked what I do for a living, the easiest answer for me is a “Certified Peer Specialist/Wellness and Recovery Specialist.” My main source of work is educating, assisting, providing hope and inspiring clients with mental health related issues to be able to overcome their circumstances and live fulfilling and productive lives. I would also describe myself as a renaissance man. I graduated from Andrews University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I’m also a writer, a photographer, a videographer, a public speaker, a musician, and an avid gym rat. Health and fitness used to be something I did just for aesthetic reasons, but when I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder in 2012 it took on a different meaning for me. Exercise serves as an amazing form of therapy for me. It produces natural endorphins which help keep me calm, relaxed, happy, and centered. My ultimate goal in life is to share about my experiences regarding mental health and use that to foster more understanding and reduce stigmas within the community.
